Tottenham join hunt for ‘world class’ Barcelona forward to partner Kroupi in devastating new attack – report

A fresh report suggests that Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Barcelona’s electric forward Ferran Torres—a move that could reshape their attack, alongside the expected arrival of Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi.

Spurs have finally got their transfer strategy in order, acting early in the window to lock down top targets and give Roberto De Zerbi maximum time to work with new signings during pre-season.

So far, the business has been methodical. Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke have already arrived to reinforce the defence, while £185 million was splashed on Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes to completely overhaul the midfield.

Now, attention turns to upgrading a frontline that underwhelmed last season—though injuries didn’t help, regularly stifling the team’s creativity.

Despite surprise rumours of a Randal Kolo Muani return, Tottenham are actively hunting for a new left-winger and a No.9 who can offer far more consistency than Dominic Solanke and Richarlison have delivered.

Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and Rafael Leão remain the prime targets for the wide role, while sources indicate growing confidence that a deal for Kroupi can be secured.

But a new report claims Spurs are also firmly in the mix for Barcelona’s Ferran Torres, after the Catalan giants decided to cash in on the former Manchester City man.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to let Torres go for just €35 million (£29m) this summer, with only one year left on his Camp Nou contract.

Capable of playing as a traditional striker or out wide, Torres has registered 91 goals and 44 assists in 359 career club appearances, and is a regular for the Spanish national side. The ex-City player—who scored 16 times in 43 games across two seasons at the Etihad—has also netted 24 goals in 63 caps for Spain.

Former Barca boss Xavi was clearly a huge admirer, once saying: “Perhaps Ferran has surprised me the most. He’s a player on another level, spectacular—how he understands space, links play, keeps the ball, works defensively… he’s world-class. He’s a great signing, one I wanted, and a wonderful footballer.”

Torres has featured in every Spain match at this World Cup so far, crucially assisting Mikel Merino’s winner in the 1-0 round-of-16 victory over Portugal.

He would represent a major upgrade for Tottenham’s attack—and it’s believed any move would complement Kroupi’s arrival, not replace it, especially given both players are versatile enough to operate out wide or through the middle.

Elsewhere, Spurs have also received a boost in their pursuit of another Portuguese forward, after the player reportedly slowed down a proposed move to the Saudi Pro League following the World Cup.
