The Rolling Stones are still together, more than six decades into the musician’s time together. That is, on its own, an incredible feat that very few groups can claim. The fact that there’s still an audience for their music – for anything at all – is remarkable. The group could be headed back to the charts in the United States later this spring, but not with a brand new effort or even a recent single. Instead, the rock outfit is resharing one of its earliest releases, as a special version of Out of Our Heads is coming on Record Store Day 2025.
The Rolling Stones to Celebrate Record Store Day 2025
As part of this year’s Record Store Day, the British legends are reissuing Out of Our Heads, a title that helped kick off one of the earlier eras of the band’s career. The new pressing will be limited to just 6,500 copies, which is a large number for many acts, but a rather small one for a group as beloved as the Rolling Stones still are to this day.
That figure may even prove to be large enough to push a catalog release onto several Billboard charts, if many of them sell at the same time – something that’s far from impossible. Vinyl exclusives like this regularly appear on the company’s rankings, such as the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts, and if interest is high enough, the collection could even find its way to the Billboard 200.
This latest edition of Out of Our Heads is being pressed on clear vinyl and features a custom design. It’s been mastered from the original tapes, which makes it a dream for collectors, audiophiles, and longtime fans who’ve been with the band since the beginning. The only catch is that it’s available exclusively at physical retailers on Record Store Day.
The Rolling Stones’ Out of Our Heads
Out of Our Heads marked an important moment in the band’s discography, and in rock history in general. Released in 1965, the set arrived at different times and in slightly different forms in the U.S. and the U.K. In America, it served as The Rolling Stones’ fourth album and the band’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In the group’s home country, it was the third official release, and it peaked at No. 2.
The album features a blend of covers and original compositions, as the band was still transitioning away from the blues and R&B tunes that launched the troupe to stardom. Out of Our Heads marked the beginning of a shift toward songwriting, with Jagger and Richards stepping up in a big way and showing what they could do. That evolution proved to be a turning point for the outfit.
“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” Made the Album a Win
Perhaps more than anything else, Out of Our Heads is remembered as the album that introduced the world to one of the greatest songs of all time. “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” is often hailed as The Rolling Stones’ definitive track, and its inclusion on the set helped push the band to another level of success, both commercially and critically. Rolling Stone has named it one of the greatest songs of all time, and it became the band’s first No. 1 on the Hot 100.
