Christian Tuipulotu Rewarded with Contract Extension After Impressive Start to 2025 NRL Season
Winger Christian Tuipulotu has been rewarded with a contract extension by the St. George Illawarra Dragons following an outstanding beginning to the 2025 NRL season. The 24-year-old has showcased excellent form and has now secured his spot at the club through the end of the 2026 season.
Tuipulotu has quickly become a key player for the Dragons in 2025, delivering strong performances across his four games so far. He has scored five tries, broken through 19 tackles, and is averaging an impressive 181 running metres per game—highlighting his ability to consistently gain ground and pose a threat to opposition defenses.
Recognizing his contributions, the Dragons have opted to extend his current deal by an additional year. His re-signing signals the club’s confidence in his growing influence on the team’s on-field success.
Dragons head coach Shane Flanagan praised the young winger’s all-around game and steady improvement. “We’re really happy with the way Christian has developed this season,” Flanagan stated. “His powerful runs from the backfield are just as crucial as his try-scoring ability, and we’re excited to keep him here longer.”
Tuipulotu’s journey to his current form has seen him move through several NRL clubs. He originally launched his career with the Sydney Roosters before shifting to the Manly Sea Eagles. In 2024, he made the transition to the Dragons after receiving an early release from Manly, and he has since flourished in his new environment at the Red V.
Since joining St. George Illawarra, Tuipulotu has found a rhythm that has brought out his best on the field. His performances in the early part of the 2025 season have not only boosted his reputation but have also made a meaningful impact on the Dragons’ attacking play. His physicality and speed have added another dimension to the team’s backline, making him a player to watch as the season progresses.
The winger, who has represented Tonga on two occasions at the international level, is viewed as a valuable asset both for his finishing ability and his work in setting up plays from deep within the team’s own half. His versatility and willingness to take on the hard yards make him a standout figure in the Dragons’ squad.
Tuipulotu’s new deal is a sign of the Dragons’ intent to build a strong core of players and maintain continuity within the roster. With his future now secured until the end of 2026, the club and its supporters will be hopeful that he continues his excellent form and helps lead the team toward a successful campaign.
