The Cincinnati Reds are reportedly targeting Skip Schumaker as their top choice for the team’s managerial position, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Schumaker, who previously managed the Miami Marlins, recently informed the organization and players that he would not return, prioritizing personal matters before departing to handle a family emergency.
Nightengale wrote, “Schumaker, who officially informed the Marlins and his players that he had no interest in returning before departing Friday for a family emergency, is the No. 1 target of the Cincinnati Reds.” This declaration underscores Schumaker’s position as the leading candidate for the role as the Reds seek to revamp their leadership.
In addition to Schumaker, the Reds are also considering other potential hires, including former Chicago Cubs manager David Ross. Ross, who parted ways with the Cubs earlier, is expected to be interviewed as part of the Reds’ search process.
