The crash occurred at the intersection of State Route 28 and Edenton Pleasant Plain Road, and it has now been confirmed that a third vehicle was involved.
The incident involved Matthew Penny, a 25-year-old driver who was attempting to pass another car that seemed to be making a right turn. As Penny maneuvered, 43-year-old Dustin McDole reportedly pulled in front of his vehicle, causing a fatal collision. Investigators have not yet provided an official cause for the crash, but their initial findings suggest that Penny was driving at an excessive speed, which may have contributed to the accident.
