After a number of weeks completely away from the spotlight, legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson appeared on an interview with the folks from Esquire to offer an update on his life right now. As you may know, Tyson wasn’t able to continue his road to the July 20 Netflix live event where he was supposed to fight Jake Paul. Instead of Mike, the Youtuber will face BKFC legend Mike Perry next Saturday. But Mike Tyson is determined to fight Jake Paul when he fully recovers from the health issue he suffered during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. In this interview with Esquire, he responded to Deontay Wilder and every single person who has criticized him for being too old to fight.
Here’s part of what Tyson said: “I’m a glory junkie. I love people thinking about me all day. I’d rather live a short life of glory than a long life of obscurity. It’s just who I am. This is all I started fighting for-to get all this fucking status. I’m going to be chasing it for the rest of my life. I know that. I’m never going to get what I want, because I’m one of those gluttons for pain. I can never get enough. Worried I will get hurt? Then let Mike get hurt. You don’t have to worry about paying my bills. Everyone says this makes no sense, but he’s how old? Wilder is not who I am. He can’t go to Mongolia and have somebody know who the fuck he is.”
