Iowa wrestling’s class of 2025 just got bigger, in size and in talent.
Two-time New Jersey state champion Harvey Ludington committed to the Hawkeyes on Saturday. He is the No. 1 190-pounder in the nation, according to Matscouts and the No. 11 pound-for-pound prospect in the class of 2025. He also is a former Fargo champion.
It was a big and much-needed addition to Iowa’s 2025 class. With the upcoming departure of Stephen Buchanan at 197 pounds, the depth at the weight was a question. Now, Ludington looks like a logical solution to that problem.
Ludington is the second-highest-rated recruit in Iowa’s 2025 class, behind Leo DeLuca (No. 8 in the class of 2025) at 125 pounds. DeLuca and Ludington are two of four top-100 recruits for the Hawkeyes, with twins JR Miller (No. 64) and Ty Miller (No. 98) rounding out a solid class for the Hawkeyes. Paolo Ciatto rounds out the six-man class.
Of the six-man class, all but DeLuca project to wrestle at 174 pounds or heavier in college, showing an increased emphasis on the success the Hawkeyes have had at the heavier weights this year.
