One person is dead after a single-car crash in Tamworth on Thursday, authorities said.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a crash on Chocorua Road near the intersection of Page Hill Road around 8:30 p.m.
Authorities said the driver, identified as Tehya Mooney, 23, of Manchester, was heading westbound on Chocorua Road when she went off the right side of the road, crashed into rocks and struck a large tree.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said Mooney might have experienced a medical emergency while driving.
Police said Mooney’s backseat passenger, identified as Tammy Fullerton, 32, of Moultonborough, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown forward as a result of the crash.
Authorities said Mooney and the front passenger, who were wearing seat belts, were able to get out of the car and call 911 while Fullerton was still stuck in the car. Mooney and the front passenger did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said Fullerton was pulled from the car and transported to a hospital. Fullerton later died as a result of her injuries.
