“What a year! Full of ups and downs, highs and lows… and lessons along the journey.. but love playing with my guys!” Jordan Love closed out the 2024 season with a playoff berth. But once again, the dream fell short. The Green Bay Packers bowed out in the wild card round to the eventual Super Bowl champs. Still, the offseason isn’t slowing him down. Love’s keeping the energy up with a fun new event. And he’s teaming up with someone pretty special to him.
Jordan Love is back for the youth! On Tuesday, Love shared a story on his official Instagram account, posting a new update featuring a poster by FlexWork Sports Management. The poster highlighted details of an upcoming event — “Hands of 1OVE,” sponsored by Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. It’s a special youth football camp scheduled to take place on April 12, 2025, at Liberty High School in Bakersfield, California.
The camp, which will kick off from 1 PM to 4 PM, will see Jordan Love and his close friend, Krys Barnes, training boys and girls from grade 8 to 18. The event organizer also shared a caption, catching fans’ attention: “Jordan Love & Krys Barnes putting on for their hometown of Bakersfield! Camp filled up in a record time of 22 minutes so let’s just say the community is more than excited for this weekend! See you out there! (heart and football emojis).” That’s inspiring.
For those who don’t know, quarterback Jordan Love and linebacker Krys Barnes go way back—all the way to Liberty High School, class of 2016. And now? They’re coming home. Back to where it all started. The two are teaming up again at their alma mater, hosting a football event for kids. It’s not just about the game—it’s about giving back, teaching the next generation, and sharing what they’ve learned along the way.
Jordan Love and Krys Barnes have been tight since their teen years. So when they both landed in Green Bay as rookies in 2020, it felt like family. Even after Barnes moved on to the Cardinals, that bond didn’t fade. You could feel it last season when Love playfully said after facing Barnes on the field: “I do get bragging rights over him. I picked up a block on him too, so I definitely get bragging rights over him. That’s my brother, though, that boy. We’re on opposite sides, so we just focus on doing our job and what we can control.” That was some brotherhood.
Now that Barnes is in free agency, he’s showing up to support Jordan Love—this time, to lead and inspire. But this isn’t their first rodeo. Just nine months ago, they hosted their second annual BamFam Foundation football camp at Liberty. And it was more than just drills.
The kids walked away with real-life lessons, as Love shared: “To be able to see these positive role models in their life and give them that message—that they can make it out too, that they can follow their dreams and be the next NFL player out—is what we’re trying to do.” He wasn’t alone in inspiring the youth.
Krys Barnes also chimed in, saying: “The life lessons I’ve learned at Liberty—I tried to instill those in the youth today. Trying to give them any advice I can to help them get ready for the next level, whether it’s high school, college, or that step before going pro.” No doubt, it’s more than football. It’s about roots, friendship, and paying it forward.
Kudos to two of Bakersfield’s favorite local athletes—and a special shoutout to Jordan Love, who’s doing all this while managing an injury.
Is Jordan Love recovering well?
Last year, Jordan Love sustained an MCL sprain in the season opener. Despite that, the QB started in 15 games, leading his team into the playoffs. After the season, coach Matt LaFluer revealed that his star QB did not need a knee procedure. But the major thing is, the nature of his existing trouble wasn’t revealed. But during this NFL annual meeting, HC gave a major update on the quarterback.
LaFleur said, “He’s not an excuse maker. That’s not something he ever talked to me about.” This statement has surely raised concerns about the well-being of Jordan Love. And, of course, who can forget RB Josh Jacobs’s February comment – “Special, man. I don’t think people really know how good he is.” All these have surely raised eyebrows on the present situation of Love’s injury.
But one thing is clearly certain: no one can stop this man from doing
his work, not even an injury!
