Netflix’s new docuseries, “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma,” offers an in-depth look at the life and career of the former Green Bay Packers quarterback. The three-part series, which began streaming on December 17, 2024, delves into Rodgers’ personal and professional journey, including his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury.
Directed by Gotham Chopra and Liam Hughes, the series explores various facets of Rodgers’ life, such as his family dynamics, spirituality, and controversial views on vaccines. The production team spent a year filming and interviewing Rodgers, aiming to understand the complexities of his character.
In the documentary, Rodgers reflects on his initial reaction to the Packers drafting Jordan Love in 2020, expressing shock and disbelief. He also discusses the longstanding dysfunction within his family, attributing it to his parents’ devout Christian beliefs and the conditional nature of the love he experienced.
The series also touches on Rodgers’ use of ayahuasca, a psychedelic drug, and his controversial stance on COVID-19 vaccination. Rodgers credits his ayahuasca experiences with helping him process childhood traumas and improve his football performance. He also addresses the fallout from his misleading comments about his vaccination status in 2021, revealing that his skepticism towards vaccines originated from his parents, particularly his father, who did not believe in annual flu shots.
“Aaron Rodgers: Enigma” is now available for streaming on Netflix.
