Nate Oats, Preston Murphy, and the Alabama men’s basketball team continue to add length in the transfer portal. Earlier in the week, Alabama earned a commitment from seven-foot Bucknell transfer Noah Williamson. Now, the Tide adds another big man to the 2025 transfer portal class.
Bol Bowen, a 6-foot-10, 195-pound forward from Jericho, Vermont, entered the transfer portal on March 19 from Florida State. During his sophomore season with the Seminoles, he averaged 8.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game, shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 41.4 percent from the three-point range.
He appeared in 29 games with 27 starts for Florida State in the 2024-2025 college basketball season. His top performance came on January 18 in a 91-78 win over Georgia Tech, where he scored 20 points and collected four rebounds for the Seminoles.
Bol Bowen was rated as a four-star prospect out of high school, according to 247 Sports, and was once again rated as a four-star once he entered the transfer portal. He signed with Florida State as a Seminoles’ 2022 recruiting class member.
“Bowen is a long and athletic forward that thrives in an up-and-down, open court game. He’s rangy, elastic, and exceptionally mobile for his size, covering the court with long and fluid strides, able to make smooth changes of direction, and effortlessly rise up to play way above the rim. His best upside is on the defensive end of the floor where his physical tools should ultimately allow him to be multi-positional, switchable, and a playmaker who can fly around the court, jump into passing lanes, and block some shots at the rim. Offensively, he’s best in transition right now where he can fill lanes, finish, and sometimes even start the break himself. He’s more limited in a half-court game, and working to become a more consistent shooter, but has untapped potential as a rebounder, grab-and-go style playmaker, and a hybrid type of mismatch forward.”
