Paris Olympics star Zac Ward has been promoted into the Ulster Senior Men’s squad for an extended trial that will stretch to the Autumn international window.
The 25-year-old Ballynahinch forward impressed at the Paris Olympics, helping Ireland to a sixth-placed finished in the Rugby Sevens tournament, scoring four tries in the Stade de France. Now, the son of Ulster legend Andy Ward, is keen to make a similar impression in the 15-a-side game.
Ulster Rugby’s Head of Rugby Operations and Recruitment, Bryn Cunningham, said: “It’s great to be welcoming Zac into the squad, as we ramp up preparations for the new season.
“Zac is coming off the back of a successful period playing with the national Sevens set-up, and we feel this is a good opportunity for him to bring his skills and qualities into the group in the weeks ahead.”
