Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson has been selected to participate in the 2025 Castrol Rising Stars game during NBA All-Star Weekend. He was named as a replacement player for the event, which will take place on Friday, February 14, at Chase Center in San Francisco.
Thompson, now in his second NBA season, has been recognized for his contributions to the Pistons. In 25 games this season, he is averaging 19.7 minutes per game.
The Castrol Rising Stars game is an annual showcase featuring top first- and second-year NBA players, as well as standout talents from the NBA G League. This year’s format includes a mini-tournament with four seven-player teams competing in three games. Notably, the champion of the Rising Stars event will earn a spot to play in the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 16.
The rosters for the three teams composed of NBA rookies and sophomores will be determined in the Rising Stars Draft, scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, at 4 p.m. ET. The draft will be available on the NBA App and on the league’s social media platforms.
Thompson’s selection highlights his promising development and the impact he has had with the Pistons. Fans can look forward to seeing him represent Detroit during the All-Star festivities.
