Richarlison reveals multiple failed PSG transfers and desire to play with Neymar during Kylian Mbappe exit sagas

Richarlison has revealed how close he came to joining Paris Saint-Germain, lifting the lid on a series of secret talks that nearly took him to the French capital.

PSG Move That Nearly Happened
The Tottenham Hotspur forward explained that he was repeatedly lined up as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappé whenever the superstar looked set to leave Paris.

Since his £50m move from Everton FC in 2022, Richarlison has remained on PSG’s radar, with interest intensifying during the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mbappé’s future and eventual move to Real Madrid.

Speaking about the situation, he admitted:
“PSG contacted me several times. Whenever Mbappé was close to leaving, they came for me. At one point, my agent even travelled to Paris for talks.”

The Neymar Factor
A transfer to PSG wasn’t just about career progression — it was also deeply personal.

Richarlison revealed his strong desire to play alongside Neymar, whom he greatly admires.
The Brazilian forward said discussions even took place during national team camps, but the move ultimately never materialised.
“I really wanted it.

We spoke about it with Neymar during Brazil camps, but it didn’t happen. It’s a shame because playing in Paris with him and other Brazilians would have been incredible.”

Inspired by Brazilian Icons
Richarlison also spoke about his deep connection to Brazil’s football heritage.

His admiration goes beyond words — it’s permanently inked on his body, with tattoos featuring Neymar, Ronaldo Nazário, and Pelé.
He recalled a special moment with Pelé, who once told him he had made Brazil smile — a message he later had tattooed as a lasting tribute.

Uncertain Future at Spurs

While the PSG move never came to life, Richarlison now faces a challenging period at Tottenham.

Despite contributing goals this season, the club is struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table as they adjust under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.
His international future with Brazil national team is also unclear.

Having missed recent call-ups and not featured since October, the forward faces a tough task to reclaim his place ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
For now, the PSG dream remains a “what could have been” — a story of near-misses, big ambitions, and unfinished business.
