Newcastle United star set to leave in the summer has already hinted at his next career move

Kieran Trippier could depart Newcastle United as a free agent this summer, with his future at the club still uncertain.

The experienced defender has also revealed he is considering a move into management once his playing career comes to an end. His current deal at St James’ Park expires this summer, and discussions with head coach Eddie Howe are expected during the upcoming Premier League break.

Since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2022, the 35-year-old has made over 150 appearances, proving to be a bargain signing at £12 million. He has played a vital role in Newcastle’s rise from relegation candidates to a side that has qualified for the Champions League twice and lifted the 2025 Carabao Cup.

Although Trippier is eager to continue playing beyond this season, he remains undecided on whether his future lies at Newcastle. He acknowledged that his contract situation is clear and confirmed that talks with the manager will take place soon.

Despite his age, Trippier believes he still has several years left at the top level, crediting modern fitness, nutrition, and his dedication to maintaining peak condition. However, he also plans to spend more time with his family when he eventually steps away from the game.

Looking further ahead, Trippier is confident he will move into coaching, drawing inspiration from former teammates and colleagues now working as managers and coaches. While he is certain about a future in coaching, he remains open-minded about whether that path could eventually lead to a managerial role.
