Currently operating as a holding midfielder alongside Moises Caicedo and behind Enzo Fernandez, Santos is viewed as a promising long-term option rather than an instant solution.
Meanwhile, United are also keeping tabs on another Brazilian midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United. Although the player has previously indicated he is happy at St James’ Park, Newcastle’s struggles this season could influence his future.
With the club sitting mid-table and unlikely to secure European football, Guimaraes may consider a move to a team competing in the Champions League—something United could potentially offer.
