Man United and West Ham set to battle for £56m Chelsea star who could replace Casemiro

Manchester United are heading into a crucial summer as they prepare for life after Casemiro, who is expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in June. The club has decided against offering the Brazilian a new deal, meaning attention has now turned to finding a suitable replacement.

Several midfielders have already been linked with a move to United. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali are among the leading candidates, though the list of potential targets extends beyond them.

One emerging option is Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos, with reports suggesting the London club could consider selling the 21-year-old.

Santos has impressed this season, establishing himself as a regular starter after gaining experience on loan at Strasbourg last year. Under manager Liam Rosenior, he has featured 37 times across all competitions, contributing one goal and four assists. United are said to be monitoring his progress closely as they weigh up midfield reinforcements.

According to reports, both Manchester United and West Ham are interested in securing Santos’ signature this summer. While Chelsea are not actively pushing him out, they would reportedly be open to offers in the region of £56 million. Currently operating as a holding midfielder alongside Moises Caicedo and behind Enzo Fernandez, Santos is viewed as a promising long-term option rather than an instant solution.

Meanwhile, United are also keeping tabs on another Brazilian midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United. Although the player has previously indicated he is happy at St James’ Park, Newcastle’s struggles this season could influence his future.

With the club sitting mid-table and unlikely to secure European football, Guimaraes may consider a move to a team competing in the Champions League—something United could potentially offer.

Signing Guimaraes would represent a major statement, especially given past interest from Manchester City and Arsenal. The 28-year-old has been in strong form this season, registering nine goals and seven assists in 35 appearances. However, with a reported valuation of around £65 million, any deal would require significant investment.

In a separate development, Manchester United have reportedly issued an ultimatum to Barcelona regarding Marcus Rashford, raising the possibility of his return to Old Trafford.
